This reminder comes a little late, but the required quarterly selection has been chosen and updated on the website. You can find this updated information on the book shelf page of the website. For those that attended the meeting session in October, you may have gotten a head start on Getting to Happy-the sequel to Waiting to Exhale by Terri McMillan. Stepping back a few weeks, I wanted to mention that we had a great session this October, conversation was very intellectual and discussion of the novel was great, we all enjoyed ourselves and look forward to many more sessions of this nature! Our first Chapter of Conversation was an excellent way to kick things off. In the coming weeks expect to find our C.O.C. book review for the past two novels read. This will be a condensed review of the book contributed by individual members of the club along with an average of our individual rating scales.
With Holidays right around the corner, it has been decided that we will stick to our required selection only to cut down on our inability to fit this into our busy schedules this holiday season. Some suggestions were that if you haven’t already in the past read Waiting to Exhale or watched the movie, to do so or revisit this before getting into the sequel novel. Our next session is expected to be held in early January on a Friday evening hosted by none other than one of our valued members Leslie! An E-vite will be sent in advanced of the specified date and time. Keep in mind our C.O.C literature packet presented to you before signing your pledges of accepting membership. Out of respect for the professional nature of the club and our own members, let’s make sure we make every effort to attend the quarterly sessions and in a timely manner. Our next session will also be our time to take a group photo of the book club. Our meeting agenda is created so that every aspect - from our greetings down to open discussion at closing is important and necessary to ensure a successful session. Also due to the processing of new membership, I am still unable to produce a completed membership contact list to distribute to everyone for us all to stay in contact in between sessions and distribute information accordingly, I will be working on this in the coming months .
Look forward to Issue 2 of our C.O.C newsletter in your inbox’s early December. I am still working through some technical difficulties with featuring this on our website. I will also be forwarding emails we’ve received in our cocbookclub@gmail.com inbox on inquires and information pertaining to the literacy world.
If anyone is interested in hosting an holiday event this season, please get in touch with me to discuss the details. Otherwise, I wish you a great holiday season with your family and friends and look forward to another great session in January!
