Good Morning Ladies!
So April is here and I’ve very happy to announce were still on track with Chapters of Conversation! I’ve received great feedback and member participation with the future book club. We are still open to more participants and many more suggestions and feedback. So continue to contact me or view the website for more details.


For the month of April we would like all interested participants to continue to sign up through May 1st. I will also be doing a lot of posting on the website on any suggestions and feedback along with more information that comes along during this time. Remember also there will be a Launch Party for this book club near end of month July and all participants and interested participants who may be skeptical about their decisions can come get a taste of what it will be like to be a book club member. I can promise you this will be a fun and memorable event. An E-vite will be sent out closer to this time, so it’s crucial that you reply back with your email or contact preference so that I can ensure each and every member gets all event information on a timely manner.




Frequently asked Questions:


Q: What kind of books will we be reading?
A: Urban Fiction by African American Authors-subject to change based upon suggestions/feedback that members agree upon.


Q: How much will the member dues be each Quarter and why are they necessary?
A: Currently I’m estimating this to be $10-$15 per quarter based on participation. The MORE participants the LESS dues per quarter. Dues are collected to allow for us to keep fun activities such as games, prizes, supplies, refreshments, and other expenses deemed necessary.


Q: Are we responsible for purchasing our own books?
A: Yes, but you can purchase for little of nothing depending on where you want to buy your books. This is a quarterly club so your only buying every three months. Amazon is a great site to find new and used books at very low prices. If a specific member is having a problem purchasing or finding a book, please let me know. Help will be provided.


Q: Will we have a chance to meet the other members of the book club before our actual sessions take place?
A: Yes! At the Launch Party in July 2010
Q: Will this always remain a Quarterly Club or will more be expected out of us in the future?
A: I will continuously review participation and any suggestion or feedback. We will have time at the end of our sessions for open discussion. Being that most of us are mothers and have other obligations and family, quarterly is expected to remain in place. Also since this book club will be long term as we grow and get more free time there is possibility for more frequency.


Q: Will there be any other activities or get-togethers taking place outside of the Quarterly sessions?
A: The Launch Party to begin with, and if time permits other social outings in the future may take place. Also an Anniversary Party will be a big plus next year.


Q: Will members be required to bring dishes/appetizer to each session?
A: For each session an E-vite will be sent including sign-up for a favorite dish to bring. This will hopefully be rotated each quarter so members are only bringing dishes once per year. Refreshments and desserts will be provided by hostess.
Q: What happens if I can’t make it to a session, will I be kicked out?
A: I should be notified ahead of time with the exception of emergencies. We’re hoping that all members will take this club seriously and attend every quarterly session. If you do miss any quarterly sessions you will be required to make sure all you dues have been paid for any missed sessions along with a small re-entrance fee.


Q: How will you keep the meetings from becoming boring?
A: We will follow an agenda at all sessions which include networking time, appetizers, drinks, music, short breaks, a short game/activity, open discussion and most of all discussion of the book that was read for the quarter. I’m sure with the amount of participation there will never be a dull moment. The website contains an agenda example of quarterly sessions.
